Conserving Examples-
- Ensure that all rubbish is disposed of properly on land.
- Minimise the amount of rubbish generated by reusing bags and recycling containers.
- Avoid damage to sand dune plants by walking on tracks when going to or from the beach. Make sure all vehicles are driven and parked in designated areas.
- Use the beach not the sand dunes when picnicking or playing.

and many more rules are required when protecting and keeping our coasts going.
How To Protect Coasts-
- Breakwater is one method protecting against longshore drift. Break wasters reduce the power of waves, they are built to protect beaches that are sloping.
- Gabions is a strong wire cage with pebbles, rocks or stones inside. Gabions protect the coastline by stopping the waves hitting the cliffs.
- Groynes are fences that go along the beach at angles to prevent longshore drift , the energy of the waves is absorbed by groynes, it also catches traps and sediment to prevent it from moving up the beach.
- Revetments are sloping structures placed in banks or cliffs in such a way as to absorb the energy of incoming water.
- Sea walls are curved concrete walls that stop strong waves hitting the cliffs.
